How is it better than the Apple TV?
The Vodafone TV has 4K resolution, better than the Apples HD resolution, but the same as the Apple TV 4K.  The Vodafone TV also has an antenna port so you can watch free to air TV directly on it, the Apple TV’s do not.  The Vodafone TV runs on Android and is more flexible if you’re technically minded.  For example you can sideload Aptoide TV.

How is it worse than Apple TV?
Essentially, it’s the age old difference between Android and Apple – Apple is a refined product you pay a premium price for, Android gives you great specs at a great price with great flexibility for the technically minded, but it can be clunky and unrefined at times.   We’ve found the voice search functionality to be pretty awful on the Vodafone TV, to the point of it not being usable, so we don’t advertise these boxes as having voice control functionality.  The Vodafone TV has volume control, but it does not control your TV volume directly like the Apple TV can.  For some apps the volume control works, for others you’ll need to reach for your TV remote.  The Apple TV can turn off your TV via the remote, the Vodafone TV cannot.  You cannot get Amazon Prime directly in the app store because of some weird stoush between Amazon and Google, but you can sideload it if you have strong technical skills (you need to download Downloader, then get a direct APK link for Aptoide TV, then download Amazon Prime through Aptoide TV.  We don’t provide support for this.)
